In this section I will be putting some Q&A type stuff.  Please feel free to disagree with me.  Send me an email and let me know if you appreciate the page or resent it.  If you resent it--maybe you are being convicted.  Whatever your initiative of replying to me please be polite.  I will put email received on display (edited if necessary).

    Why do "bad" things happen to "good" people?

    Why do bad things happen to good people?

    For those that do not believe in God it is only the randomness of life.

    For the Christian the reason is to draw closer to God.  That in the circumstances of life we can still have joy.  These "bad things" will give us patience, which gives us experience, which gives us hope.  This hope gives us courage to tell others about God's Love for us.

    We were given life to live.  Life is not some game that we play that if we are successful then we have a good life.  I know of a couple that are quite wealthy but cannot have kids.  I know of pleanty of poor people that have so many kids that they can't afford to feed them.  Where is it written that life is fair?

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."  (Preamble to the US Declaration of Independence)

    We have the right to the "pursuit of Happiness" not "Happiness".   We make our own Happiness.

    Christians are not immune to the randomness of life.  In fact, those that believe in God are given even MORE of it (more abundant life).  Life can be cruel, unfair, happy, boring, etc.  Christians are called to be Salt and Light in this world and show that even in any circumstance we can be glad. (Mat 5:13-16) (Romans 5:3-8)

    The Greek word for "sin" is an archery term for "missing the mark".   That "mark" is the bulls-eye--the perfection of the example provided by Christ.  If you do not believe in Christ then you are under the Law (10 commandments) which only one person was able to keep. Those that believe in Christ are under the Grace of God, so when (not if...when) a christian sins there will be a consequence for that sin that we will have to live with for the rest of our lives (in some cases).  We all need to live with the consequences of our actions.

    (1 John 1:9 )  If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

    Why should I go to Church?  It's full of hypocrits anyway!

    Who has ever been perfect for a whole day?!?

    Church is a time for believers in Christ to get together and experience unity, and in that unity we worship God.  When we go to church we cannot allow our attitudes to distract us from worship.  Each person is responsible for their own attitudes.  Each day we must renew our mind and focus on doing what is good, acceptable, and perfect.  Someone once said, "There are no perfect people, just perfect intentions".

    How could a loving God put anyone in Hell?

    If you break a law, you go to jail.  Who sent you there?  Was it the Judge? maybe the Jury?  No!  You did because you broke the law!  It is the same way with God and Hell.  God doesn't send us to Hell, we send ourselves there.  The whole problem is that nobody can keep all of God's laws.  Nobody is that perfect. 

    When we sin it breaks God's Laws for which the punishment is Hell.

    Christians have a "Get out of Jail, FREE!" card.  If we sin we don't go to Hell.

    What is this "Get out of Jail, FREE" card?   Keep reading.

    The punishment for sin is death.  In order for God to forgive us there must be a blood sacrifice.  The Jews would sacrifice a lamb on the alter as their blood sacrifice once a year.

    Did the sacrifice change their hearts?  Did it keep them from sinning?  No.  They would continue to sin and leave the forgiveness part up to the priests.  God wanted a closeness with us that was lacking.  It pained him to see his creations on their way to Hell.

    If God thinks it is so easy to keep his laws then why doesn't he come down here and try it himself!  OK, He did!  Jesus was the only person to ever keep God's Laws.  He became that lamb sacrifice; but, instead of only lasting a year--it lasts forever.  Why did he become the sacrifice?  The law demanded it, God loves us, he wants closeness with us.

    Here's the "Get out of Jail!  FREE" Card.   Jesus' blood sacrifice will only cover your sins as long as you...

    - Believe Jesus is the only Son of God and that he died on the cross for our sins.  (But believing is not enough!  Even Satan believes this Jesus is God and he died on the cross.)

    - Accept Jesus as your personal sacrifice.   Allow him to change your life.  Begin living your life the way Jesus would have you.

    - Tell somebody. If somebody asks why you are different from everyone else then tell them about what Jesus did for you.

    What?!?  Is that it?  What about doing "Good" things?  The Truely Good Things are a result of your belief in God.   They are like collector's items to be taken out and looked at or thought about.

    What is that "Get out of Jail!  FREE" card?!?  When we die we will stand before the Judge (God).  Our whole life will be displayed for all to see.  When God asks why we should be allowed into Heaven you show him your card -- Jesus will be standing there and say "Dad, this is one that accepted my sacrifice."

    How can a Christian be "Pro-Life" and be for the death penalty?

    The Constitution of the United States is a document that founded our great country.  In it we are granted certain rights, one of which is the right to Life.

    A person convicted of murder beyond a doubt or multiple times has taken this right from another person(s).  What could possibly make up for this?  Are we to protect this person that can and will take the life of another person if given a chance?  For the protection of the rest of the citizens this person should be taken out of society permanantly.

    If I take $100 from you then what would make it right?   Maybe if I gave you back the $100 with a bit of interest, maybe?  Or maybe two, three, or four times that amount would make it right?

    All this talk about "Equal Rights" and we don't even care about the ultimit in rights?   Life?!?

    If I take your life, then to make our rights equal I should die!

    From the point of conception, an innocent baby has been brought into this world.  Why should this life be snuffed out?  What law have they broken?  Any scientist will tell you that an unborn baby constites life.   They are just as alive as the rest of us.  It is not a "blob" of the Female tissue.  How could that "tissue" have a different blood type if it belongs to the mother?!?

    Do you remember when you were three?  Most people do not.  The brain develops as you grow.  You become smarter and more complex as you age.  Before you turn three you have already leaned a language or two, facial expressions, body language, etc.  You thought a joke was funny when you heard it at the age of six.  Now that you are 12 you realize there was another side to that joke.   Now that you are thirty you understand there was a historical parallell in that joke.  When you become 90 you can't remember what was so funny about the joke in the first place.  These are important developmental distinctions.  If we start to say that a Life doesn't matter because they are not developed enough to understand the difference between up and down then who will be left alive?  Right now it is unborn babies.  Next it will be the elderly.  Then the mentally handicapped.  Then the Physically handicapped.  Who will be perfect enough to be the last man standing?!?  Am I wrong?  We shall see.  Sweden passed laws allowing Doctor Assisted Suicide in 1994.  In 1997 there were over 1000 elderly people that were Murdered by Doctors against their will.  You don't believe me?  Check for yourself.   <FIND STATISTICS ON SWEDEN STORY>

    Where do babies go if they die?

    I happen to believe that there is a point in the development of a child that they begin to make conscious, rational decisions.  Until this point they are considered innocent.

    Can God create a rock so big that even He can't lift it?

    When Abe Lincoln practiced law he objected to a question from the opposing lawyer.  His reason for the objection was that either a yes or a no answer could incriminate his client.  To expound on this he asked the other lawyer, "Have you stopped beating your wife?"

    Infinite recursion and self-defeating riddles are interesting but are not serious questions.   People that ask this question are not looking for an answer.  Can you comprehend how big the Universe is?   How long is infinity?  How many infinities are there in a second? 

    Why are there so many denomonations?

    Paul argued with Peter over integrating Jewish traditions into the faith.  Martin Luthor read the Bible and determined that the Church was contradicting Holy scripture for the sake of self-importance.  The pilgrims came to the "New World" because they were persecuted for their faith.   Many divisions resulted due to differing "Interpretations" of the Bible.   Others prefered different styles of worship. 

    Denomonations cloud the real issue.  Christianity is not about going to Church or being a part of a denomonation.  It is about believing in Jesus Christ, accepting him as your savior, and telling others about Him.

    What disturbs me about the many denomonations is that some churches and believers put too much emphasis on unimportant things.  Don't do this, Don't do that!   They are like the religeous leaders in Jesus time who were too caught up in the motions and actions that they walk right past someone that is in need.

    What are the differences between all these denomonations?

    For the most part:  minor differences.   Worship styles, Scripture Preference, Theological differences of oppinion, Rituals, Bible translations.

    Is there anything wrong with being Catholic?

    Paul argued with the little pebble (Peter) on the topic of traditional riguals and Jewish custom infringing upon the freedom of the believer.   In the end, what did Paul do?  He sat with the believers and took part in the Jewish traditions.  They were not necessary for salvation; but, it gave the early believers a feeling of belonging and familiarity.

    What is the plan of salvation?  Believe that Christ is the Son of God, Accept him into your heart, and tell others about what he's done in your life.  Do Catholics believe this?  I hope so for their sake.  Rituals will not save them.  Praying to the saints won't work, either.  Having someone pray you out of Hell (or purgetory) won't work--it's too late for that.   Praying to Mary to be an intercessor will not work.  There is only one intercessor--Jesus.  He said that "All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God."  The Catholic church states that in order to be the mother of Jesus then Mary could not have sinned. This contradicts the Bible. The logic is that in order for Jesus to have been born then Mary had to be pure and without sin.  Then in order for Mary to be born sinless then Mary's mother would have been pure and without sin, and her mother, and her mother,... all the way back to Eve.

    Unfortunately, Catholics use an excuse that the Church is an authority equal to the Bible.  This gives Priests on up to the Pope quite a bit of Power.  They could change Catholicism into Satanism with that power.  July of 1998 the Pope discussed his plans to add Mary to the Trinity.  That would be blasphemy.  Mary was a blessed with the privilege of giving birth to Jesus.   That is all.  Praying to her is misguided.  Is it a sin? ... I don't think so.   "You shall have no other gods before me."   Ex 20:3 (NIV)  Praying to Mary is a misguided belief fostered by their religeous leaders.  Their intention is to humble yourself and not speak direcly to God.

    Do Priests have the power to forgive sins?  No.  They can remind you that your sins are forgiven as long as you believe that Christ is the Son of God, Accept him into your heart, and tell others about what he's done in your life.  The Priest cannot forgive sins--nor will doing any pennance.  Forgiveness is a gift of God.  God forgives us even though we don't deserve it.  We don't have to do anything further than accept his forgiveness.  Jesus paid the penalty for everybody's sin--death.

    What kind of music should a Christian listen to?

    Music is not evil or good.  The words that go with the music can be uplifting or can lead you to sin by glorifying bad deeds.

    What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

    A homosexual is a person. Homosexuality is a sin. Adultery is a sin. Murder, Lying, Worhiping other gods, even lust is a sin.

    If you are not a christian then why would you care if the bible says that Homosexuality is a sin?

    The Bible is VERY clear about Homosexuality being a sin.

    Romans 1:
    18But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves.[6] 19For the truth about God is known to them instinctively.[7] God has put this knowledge in their hearts. 20From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.
    21Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused. 22Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead. 23And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people, or birds and animals and snakes.
    24So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. 25Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen.
    26That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved.
    28When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. 29Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They are forever inventing new ways of sinning and are disobedient to their parents. 31They refuse to understand, break their promises, and are heartless and unforgiving. 32They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, 10thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers--none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God.

    Are all Christians "homophobic"?

    Most people don't want homosexuality waved in their faces.  Keep it in the closet.  Why do homosexuals want the approval of Christians so much?  They can't have it.  Why do they try?  Why do they try to force their adjenda in our faces? into our (public) schools? into our laws?

    Homosexual activitsts came up with the term "Homophobic" to label anybody that thinks that homosexuality is wrong. If you say that it is wrong then you are being intolerant and are guilty of inciting people to perform "Hate Crimes". Is the government going to determine what morality is? In this world of relative morality we discover that the only sin is intollerance? I believe that it will be the government (eventually). They will make laws that infringe on our Religious Liberty (By this time the US Constitution would have been ruled un-constitutional) and anybody that teaches that homosexuality is wrong will be brought up on charges that they are inciting others to perform "Hate Crimes". This has the potential to be beginning of the persecution of Christians in America by the government. (go to Why will Christians be put to death in America)

    Is it a sin to smoke and drink?

    I don't believe that either smoking or drinking alcolhol are sins; however, they both are habitual and are not good for the body.  Depending upon what you smoke and what you drink they both can lead you to sin.  A Christian needs to treat his body with respect.  Coating the lungs with tar or killing brain and liver cells is not showing respect for your body.

    The best way to avoid adiction is never to start.

    Is it a sin to gamble?

    I think that there are two types of gambling:  one for entertainment, the other for income.

    Entertainment is not a sin; however, how much of your income can you afford to designate for entertainment?  It is wise to know how much this type of "Entertainment" you are willing to pay for.  Set your limit and stick to it. 

    If you are gambling for hopes of winning it big then here is what I believe to be the biblical view:

    When you gamble and lose... you are not being responsible with your money.

    When you gamble and win...  you are receiving money that was not earned.  What does life teach you when you do not have to work for your living?

    Unfortunately, Gambling is addictive. You may not realize you have a problem with it until you're already addicted. Gambline may be fun and exciting but there are many suicides and murders connected with it. (as well as Greed, Theft, Drugs, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, and Debt.)

    [2 Thess 3:12 (RSV)] In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we appeal to such people--we command them--to quiet down, get to work, and earn their own living.

    Carbon dating is the measurment of a radioactive version of Carbon in plants and animals. All measurable amounts of 14C existing within living creatures would revert back to 14N in less than 60,000 years. Accurate results can only be obtained on specimins that are less than 11,000 years old (by testing tree-rings for comparison). Atmospheric conditions that have changed over the centuries will change the results of carbon dating. The oldest tree in existance was 11,000 years old and so the margin of error increases as the amount of 14C decreases.

    Needless to say then that 14C cannot be used accuratly on anything older than 50,000 years and absolutly cannot be used for anything over 60,000 years.

    Carbon dating is imposible for anything over 60,000 years.

    Is Jesus the Son of God?

    What is the Trinity?
    Yes, you're right. The word Trinity is never mentioned in the Bible; however, the teaching of the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit being equal yet distinct persons is crucial for keeping a God-Centered faith. The cults that question the trinity also believe that we can become a god. There is only one God which is made up of three aspects. The Father lays down the law, sets the punishment for sin, and judges. The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom, strength, and council. Jesus is our lawyer that pleads our case before the Judge.

    Jesus existed from the beginning but layed down his priveleges as God and became man, lived a completely sinless life, was killed by those he created and loved, returned from the dead three days later, visited hundreds of eye-witnesses including the deciples, and ascended into the clouds with a promise that he would return.

    Why will Christians be put to death in America?
    I believe laws will gradually change not only to mandate anti-descrimination; but, thought. Anybody that is caught teaching that homosexuality or adultery or some other socially-acceptable practice that the Bible states is sinful will be accused of "inciting hate-crimes". It may seem that Christians are "intollarant" because they say that the act of homosexuality is a sin; but, why would anybody care? If a Christian states what the Bible says then why would a non-christian care two figs? Because they will not be happy until every person is forced to accept their practice as normal and socially equivelant to heterosexual, monogamous relationships.
